This was an incredible transformation of a 200+ year-old warehouse on Middlesex Turnpike in Burlington, MA, and one of the most unique projects Kyle Matthew Construction has ever taken on. The building, originally operated by Metropolitan Furniture, was taken over by new owners (Furniture Consignment Gallery) who knew it was time to bring this historic structure into the modern era! And when we say old, we mean OLD. The walls were literally insulated with hay! 😳 We demolished the outdated storefront façade and built a brand-new parapet wall and modern storefront, creating a bold new look designed to catch the eye of thousands of commuters passing by every day.
Inside, the vision was to completely open up the space so the showroom would flow seamlessly. That meant major structural work—including removing a 40-foot masonry wall and installing a 3,800-lb, 40-foot steel beam to carry the load. It was a massive undertaking, but the result was a bright, open, and inviting layout that makes it easier than ever for customers to explore, experience, and fall in love with the furniture!
